He is one of the most reputed champion jockeys currently racing in United States. He is the son of a jockey turned assistant trainer. He worked as a stable hand at the Chantily Racecourse in the early part of his career. In January 2003 he emigrated to California as an exercise rider for another Frenchman trainer Patrick Biancone. On 18th August 2005 he registered his first win of his riding career. In 2006 at Saratoga Race Course he finished with 28 wins, which is the most by an apprentice.
